Sparta, with a pick-a-higher-card gamble after wins
War galleys, Greek vases, a catapult and a scatter of Spartan shields on 30 lines, and a gamble screen where you pick a card to beat the dealer's.
Sparta leans on the usual ancient Greek props and does them well: a red-sailed war galley, black-figure amphoras, a catapult on a grassy hill, a bronze shield and a short sword, all over a sandy battlefield at dusk. The part worth knowing about, though, is what happens after a win.
Reels and lines
Thirty numbered lines run down both sides. The screenshot at the top was taken at 30 lines with a total bet of 1.20, so 0.04 a line. The rest were taken with the Lines box turned down to 1 and a bet of 0.01, which is useful for showing the reels and not much else. Major, Random and Minor counters sit over the Sparta title.
The card values are carved in gold, A, K, Q, J, 10 and 9. Among the pictures there's also a close-up of a Spartan in a crested helmet. The scatter is a line of soldiers standing behind round shields, and the tile is labelled Scatter.
In that shot two scatters pay a small amount, and the text above the reels says it was won "on extra" rather than on a line. A round Gamble button with red dice then appears in the bottom right.
The double-up screen
Pressing Gamble opens a card table with five cards along the top, the first belonging to the dealer. The screen offers three choices: Collect takes the win (the Bank figure), Double risks all of it, and Double Half risks half. Next to each option you see what you'd end up with, here 0.02 in the bank, 0.03 for double half and 0.04 for double.
Once you choose, the dealer card turns over (a 6 of spades here) and the prompt changes to "Pick a higher card". Beat it and the amount doubles. Lose and the stake you risked is gone.
The old page said Sparta has been out "since 2009". The screenshots can't confirm a date, so we've left it out.

Questions people ask
How does the Sparta gamble work?
After a win you can Collect, Double or Double Half. The dealer turns one card and you pick one of four face-down cards. A higher card doubles the amount you risked. Double Half risks only half the win.
Is Mega888 Sparta the same as Spartan?
No. Spartan is a different game in the same lobby with other symbols and its own bet panel. There's a separate page for it.
